Craig Mack Biography
Brentwood, Long Island, New York City, New York, USA. Mack burst onto the hip-hop scene in 1994 with the audacious funk stylings of "Flava In Ya Ear", the first platinum record for Sean "Puffy" Combs' Bad Boy Entertainment label. Mack had actually been attempting to break into the big time for several years, releasing an obscure side on the Sleeping Bag label at the age of 17 and performing menial tasks for fellow Brentwood rappers EPMD. A chance meeting with Combs led to an opportunity to record his own album. Project: Funk Da World, a laid back party record, failed to make the same impact as "Flava In Ya Ear", although tracks such as "Get Down" and "Funk Wit Da Style" gamely recreated the vibe of his hit single. Mack subsequently parted company with Bad Boy, re-emerging on the Street Life label in 1997 with the R&B-orientated Operation: Get Down.
