Attitude Biography

Timothy Clayton, Brighton, Alabama, USA. This Alabama-based rapper got into music during a troubled youth, which saw him being locked up in jail on several occasions. Intent on staying out of trouble, and mesmerised by the sound of east coast gangsta rap, Clayton started up the Centa Street Records label with his partner Wade Summerville. The label was created to help promote the under-represented Alabama rap scene, and helped facilitate the release of Clayton's solo debut Serious Times. Released in 1997 under his new stage moniker, the album attracted a few positive reviews from the southern rap press but largely flew under the radar.

At the start of the 00s, Attitude struck up a working partnership with fellow southerner Bubba Sparxxx. He toured with the white rapper and appeared on his 2003 recording Deliverance. A contract with the Timbaland endorsed Beat Club Records label looked like introducing Attitude to a wider audience, but the label folded while he was in the process of recording tracks for a projected album. He bounced back by securing a new contract with Warner Brothers Records.
